The place to Be!

This isn’t your typical high school. There’s a sense of discovery, a spirit of inquiry here rooted in Jewish ethics and traditions. Students say learning is exciting. Fun. Challenging. And it doesn’t happen only in the classroom. Ottawa’s only community Jewish High School, we pride ourselves on being a distinctive and unique institution that offers the very best in Secular and Judaic education.

A dynamic, innovative, and inclusive private school, Yitzhak Rabin strives to foster a strong Jewish identity within a caring community. We prepare our students for future successes in top colleges and universities, and for a life of commitment to the Jewish community, Canadian society, and the world at large.

School Life

Yitzhak Rabin High School provides social opportunities and a rich program of extra-curricular activities. Through participation in these activities, it is the hope of the school that students will have the opportunity to form meaningful and lasting friendships. It is also our hope that these activities will promote positive values, school unity and a sense of community.

Our Student Council provides a variety of exciting and interesting programs including Israeli, Italian, and Greek Days, Pizza Days, Twin Days, Treasure Hunts, Skiing, and Snow Tubing. Students also take part in the annual Model UN Program and participate on a competitive Chess Team.

Yitzhak Rabin High School students are also taught the importance of community through volunteering opportunities with Jewish communal organizations including the Jewish Federation of Ottawa, Na’amat Ottawa, The Ottawa Jewish Bulletin, Hillel Lodge, nursing homes, and SALEH (for victims of terror in Israel).

Through participation in the various activities offered at Yitzhak Rabin High School our students will gain a deeper understanding of themselves while contributing to the school community and the community-at-large.

Yitzhak Rabin High School offers many of the same academic and extracurricular opportunities found at the finest Ottawa public and independent schools, combined with a uniquely innovative Judaic studies curriculum. Our approach to all learning is guided by an open-minded spirit of intellectual inquiry that encourages students to challenge, ask questions, and work at the highest academic and intellectual levels.

We are deeply committed to accommodating and challenging both students who have attended Jewish day schools and those from public or independent secular schools who may not yet know any Hebrew. The friendly and accepting nature of our student body and faculty makes all of our students feel comfortable whatever their religious background or learning style. We believe that students should be proactive in creating their own academic education.
